Vernicia (Rosier) Louis

Vernicia (Rosier) Louis, 93, of Naugatuck, passed away peacefully while surrounded by the love of her family at Waterbury Hospital on Wednesday, May 24, 2023.  Vernicia was the widow of the late Joseph Ciceron Louis.  She immigrated from Haiti shortly after Joseph’s death and has been a proud American since 2005. Vernicia was one of ten children of the late Rosemond and Telcina (Mani) Rosier. 

As grandmother to her 14 grandchildren, “Gramma” spent her later years showering each one with her love.  She was an excellent cook who had many specialties.  Vernicia was fastidious in her home and her appearance.  Always cleaning, her home was immaculate.  Family was her “joie de vivre”; family day was Sunday.  Everyone would gather around the dinner table and enjoy the delicious creations lovingly prepared by Vernicia.  Her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren have many wonderful memories of being together at Sunday table.

Vernicia leaves to cherish her love and memory her son Philippe and daughter in law Betty Louis  of Naugatuck and her daughter Gertha Louis of Bridgeport.  She also leaves her grandchildren: Victoria Philippe, Valery Louis, Valencia Emile, Alexander Louis, Daphney Massena, Lyndberg David Massena, Stephanie Massena, Giovahney Walter Louis, Moise Moses Louis, Mackenzie Ashlyn Louis, Dashna Louis, Cassandra Louis, Shelonda Louis. Her Greatgrandchildren: Elizabeth Z. Zephir, Kevin Julien, Jennifer Louis, Abigail Louis, Caleb Alexander McGee Louis, Zanetti Siah Louis-Charles, Damiere Kersaint.

Vernicia is predeceased by her husband Joseph and her son Jean M. Louis, daughter Monique Louis-Massena, son Tony Louis and grandson Thercy Boulay.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 3, 2023, from 9am to 11am at Prospect Memorial / The Palmerie Family Funeral Home, 122 Waterbury Rd., Prospect.  Funeral services will begin promptly at 11 am at the funeral home.  The burial will be at a later date.
