Frances Ferrante Obituary

Frances “Chickie” Ferrante, 90, of Bethany died peacefully surrounded by love at Complete Care at Glendale on Sunday, January 22, 2023.  She now joins her late husband, Charles Ferrante, in heavenly rest.  Chickie died five days shy of her 91st birthday, January 27th.  She was born in Corona, NY, a daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Yoli) Martorano.
Frances was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and wife.  Not one to say no to any volunteer work, she was a hard worker behind the scenes. She was always ready to give to anyone in need.  She spent much of her early life volunteering for the Queens Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children.  Always loving, protective and easy to talk to, Chickie thought of so many of her daughter’s and son’s friends as family and had friendships that lasted decades.
As a Bobby Soxer, Frances was a frequent attendant in the front row at the Paramount Theater for Frank Sinatra performances.  She loved “her Frankie” and the music of that era.  Frances played the piano well and had a beautiful soprano voice.  Music truly brought her joy.
As a marvelous cook, Frances could be counted on every Christmas Eve to put the traditional Seven Fishes on her table; her fish batter was delicious!  Her Catholic faith was important to her, the prayer of St. Francis of Assisi was the model of how she lived her life.  She loved to travel and saw much of the United States and the Caribbean and was never one to turn down an adventure.
More than anything, Frances loved her family.  Spending time with them at home, or on vacation, or the simple pleasures of sharing a meal together were the highlights of her life.  As she was lovingly cared for in her later years, she amassed a multitude of sweet moments with her daughter. Her life and legacy of love will be cherished by all of her family always.
Frances is survived by her son Sal and his wife Erica of Bethany, her daughter Valerie of Bethany and her adoring grandchildren Peter and wife Nikki of Middlebury, Andrew and fiancé Ashley of Pa., and Francesca Ferrante of Bethany.  She also leaves her great-grandchildren Lexi and Lucas as well as her dear brother Joseph Martorano of New York.

Visitation for Frances will be held on Friday, January 27, 2023 from 5 PM to 7 PM at Prospect Memorial/ The Palmerie Family Funeral Home, 122 Waterbury Rd., Prospect.  A Mass of Christian Burial for Frances will be on Saturday, January 28, 2023 at 10:30 AM at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 81 Center Rd, Woodbridge, CT 06525.  All those planning to attend are asked to meet directly at the church.  Frances will be buried with her husband at State Veterans Cemetery, Middletown in a private ceremony on Monday, January 30, 2023.

In lieu of flowers, if you so desire, memorial donations to St. Jude (www.stjude.org)  will be greatly appreciated in honor of Frances' lifelong devotion to the care of children.  Frances’ family would like to thank the staff of the Complete Care at Glendale for their attentiveness and care during these past days of her illness.
