Thomas Rivera Obituary

Thomas Rivera, 71, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at Hartford Hospital early Friday morning April 30th, 2021. Thomas was a decorated veteran who served in the Vietnam war earning several medals including the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star.

Thomas was born on October 8th, 1949 in Bridgeport, CT to his parents Thomas & Regalda Rivera. When he was just 16, Thomas decided he wanted to join the Marines and to his surprise saw many local area friends who were also there as result of the draft.

After serving in Vietnam, and literally seeing the world, he returned to Bridgeport where he would go onto HVAC school in NYC and begin the next phase of his life as a Building Engineer. He would work for companies like Golden Heights for over 35 years and their subsidiaries until his retirement.

A historian, a sci-fi buff, a patriot, a gourmet chef, a walking comedy show, a huge fan of Fats Domino and last but not least, a Ghost Hunter. There were so many things about this man that made him great.

Thomas was an accomplished engineer, a loving father, and a brave and honorable soldier. He is survived by his brothers Nelson and Albert, his sisters Marion and Dolores, his ex-wife, June, his children Stacey, Thomas, Kimberly, Erica, Joseph as well as several grandkids, cousins, nieces, and nephews!

There will be a private service held May 11th at 1:00pm.
