Stephanie Meaney, 54, of Groton passed away after a brief illness on October 14, 2021 at her home. Steph was born June 28, 1967 in the Bronx New York, a daughter of the late Frank E. Meaney and Rose Marie (Marco) Meaney Lacerenza.
Steph was a kind, selfless woman who overcame adversity to become a dedicated and knowledgeable nurse that was loved by her patients and co-workers at Bridebrook Rehab Center in Niantic. Her co-workers were like family to Steph. Family and friends meant the world to her. She enjoyed visiting with family at the beach, shopping, and going to the casino with her favorite person, her Mom, who preceded her in death last month. If you were to attempt to describe Steph in three words you would say: determined, selfless and loving. She enjoyed a good joke and had an infectious laugh. Steph meant so much to so many, she will be so terribly missed by all who were blessed by her love and friendship.
Left to mourn her death and cherish her love and memory are her brother Frank, sister in law Susan and nephews Gavin and Christian Meaney of Thomaston, her aunt Elodia Marco of New York, her uncle Thomas Gorman of New Fairfield, CT, step father Nicholas “Chuck” Lacerenza of Prospect , step sister Toni Ann and husband Michael Leschuck of Meriden, and step brother Nicholas Lacerenza of Bristol.
Steph also leaves her “second Family”, her most dear and cherished friends Lynn and Bob Barker, their daughters Julie and Jennifer who she loved as if they were her daughters and the entire Barker extended family.
