Rose Sabo Obituary

Rose Marie (Stebbins) Sabo, 90, of Prospect passed away on Saturday, March 16, 2024.  She was born on September 12, 1933 in Shirley, Massachusetts. She was the daughter of the late Alexander and Gertrude (Flynn) Stebbins. She is predeceased by her late husband, Eugene Sabo and her two brothers Raymond and Donald Stebbins.

She is survived by her six children:  Jeanne (Michael) Almeida, George (Sherrilyn) Sabo, Susan (Thomas) Sampieri, Brian Sabo, Leah (John) Chabot, and Richard Sabo; her nine grand-children:  Rebecca, Shannon, Brianna, Bevan, Michael, Alexander, Danielle, Jesse, and Alexandra (Lexie); her four great grand-children: Tiffany, Morgan, Allison, and Reagan; her sister Patricia (Norman) Hottin, along with several nieces and nephews.

Rose was a graduate of Hillhouse High School class of 1951.  Upon graduation, she went to work for AT&T.  After five years, she left to begin her most cherished role as mother to not only her children but their friends as well.  She was lovingly known as the town chauffeur.  She also took on the challenge of being one of the original coaches for the Pop Warner football cheerleading team.  When her children were grown, Rose returned to work at SNET as a directory assistance operator.  She eventually transferred to the engineering department where she worked as an engineering clerk until her retirement after twenty-seven years.  Throughout her retirement, Rose’s greatest joy was being a grandma and mémère and spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She also enjoyed quilting, crocheting, and baking.  She happily provided her baked goods weekly to St. Anthony’s Bingo.  Her confections were the highlight of family gatherings.

Rose was devoted to her catholic faith.  She was a communicant of St. Anthony’s Roman Catholic Church in Prospect for over 60 years.
