Loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Nurse
Rose Marie (Meaney) Lacerenza, 72, of Prospect passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of her family on Sunday, September 5, 2021 at VITAS. Rose is the loving wife of Nicholas “Chuck” Lacerenza for the past 32 years.
Born October 20, 1948 in Manhattan, New York, Rose was one of three children born to the late Vicente and Luisa Rodriguez Bari Marco. After moving her family to Naugatuck in the early 1970’s, Rose went back to school. Through hard work and determination, Rose went on to become a registered nurse earning her Associate’s Degree from Mattatuck Community College. She went to college while raising her children Frank and Stephanie and working; not an easy task. As an RN, she worked at Waterbury Hospital for approximately 15 years before becoming a nurse case manager for Blue Cross Blue Shield of CT for over 20 years until the time of her retirement.
Rose was a “Doer and a Giver”, never still, always doing something for someone else. She loved being outdoors, gardening, bowling, going to the casino and cruising. She enjoyed spending time with her blended family; her two children and Chuck’s three made for lively gatherings. Rose was blessed with a close relationship with her sister Elodia as well as her sisters-in-law: Carol, Joan, and Marie. She appreciated their supportive phone calls during her illness. Family was everything to Rose: her children, grandchildren, step children and extended family will always treasure the love she leaves with them.
Besides her husband Chuck, a proud US Marine Veteran, Rose leaves to cherish her love and memory her son Frank J. Meaney (Susan) of Thomaston and grandchildren Gavin and Christian as well as her daughter Stephanie Meaney of New London and her sister Elodia Rodriguez of New York. Rose is also survived by Chuck’s sons: Nicholas Lacerenza and his children Chase and Paige of Bristol, Stephen Lacerenza of Waterbury and daughter Toni Ann (Michael) Leschuk of Meriden and her son Michael.
Rose is predeceased by her brother Vincent Marco.
