Loving Mother, Sister and Friend
Mary Ellen Pec, 62, of Prospect passed way peacefully surrounded by the love of her family at Glendale Health Center on Friday, September 3, 2021. She was the loving mother of Stephen and Michael Pec of Prospect. Mary Ellen was born December 3, 1958 in Derby, a daughter of the late Peter and Victoria (Bomba) Kozak.
Mary Ellen graduated from Derby High School. She was a sales liaison for a medical equipment company until the time of her illness. Mary Ellen was dynamic, energetic, always busy doing things, and was not one to sit still. She made things happen. Mary Ellen was very altruistic. She spent many hours preparing for the Townwide Tag Sale whereby she would donate all proceeds to a charity close to her heart- Best Buddies. Gardening, crafting, kayaking and sunrises on the beach were just a few of Mary Ellen’s past times. Every year on the Saturday after Thanksgiving she would recruit family and friends for an evergreen wreath making craft extravaganza.
Mary Ellen volunteered with Best Buddies, was a Team Mom for Cub Scouts and Tennis team. She was a communicant of St. Anthony’s Church and a beloved member of the community. Mary Ellen treasured time spent with family and friends. She had a golden heart and would always bring a thoughtful gift where ever she went.
Left to cherish her love and memory are her sons Stephen Pec of Prospect and Michael Pec of Cheshire. Mary Ellen was one of six sisters: Catherine Kozak of Ansonia, Joan Arbusto of Southbury, Virginia (Philip) Russo of Derby, Patricia (Mark) Oczkowski of Oxford and Donna (Michael) Lynch of Prospect. She also leaves many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and many, many friends.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, September 9, 2021 at 10:30 am at St. Anthony’s Church,4 Union City Rd. Prospect. An hour of visitation will be held from 9 am to 10 am at Prospect Memorial/ The Palmerie Family Funeral Home, 72 Waterbury Rd., Prospect. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
The Pec family would like to extend a special thanks to Elise Ross, Sarah Norman, and Brenda Stenglein for their unwavering support. A special thanks to Dr. Kert Sabbath for his dedicated and compassionate care throughout her illness.
