Mabel Coer Obituary

Mabel “May” A. Coer left to rest in God’s loving arms on March 31, 2024. She was born July 17, 1937 to the late Charles and Eleanor Barrows and raised in Waterbury.
May married Thomas A. Johnson, Sr. on February 21, 1959 and had three children who were her pride and joy: Thomas Jr., Nancy, and Judy. Upon the passing of her husband she went on to marry Raymond E. Coer, Sr., on July 17, 1999, who also passed away. She lived briefly with her daughter and then moved to Complete Care at Glendale in Naugatuck in 2018.
May was a retail clerk for Bradlee’s department store for 40 years. She was an avid reader, especially any John Grisham books. She enjoyed playing Bingo and spent a great amount of time with her friends Ruthie and Margie at the nursing home. She also loved cats and rescuing them, she leaves her cat Charlie with her daughter.
May leaves behind to cherish her memory her children: Nancy D’Alfonso and her wife Rose of Waterbury and Judy Bell and her husband Donald of Unionville, her daughter-in-law Linda Gibeault of Savannah, GA, her step-children: Conchetta Kile of Colorado, Cynthia Butcher of Oklahoma, and Raymond E. Coer, Jr. of Waterbury, her grandchildren: Christopher Oliver, Adam Oliver, Christine Johnson, and Jennifer Gailey, her great-grandchildren: Christiana, Olivia, Christopher, Jr., and Christian, and her sister Sharon Bersch of Ocala, FL. May is predeceased by her son Thomas A. Johnson, Jr., her first husband Thomas Johnson, Sr., and her second husband Raymond Coer, Sr.
Mabel’s family would like to thank the Glendale staff for taking great care of her, particularly Doreen and Ginger.
