Luke L. Mannello, 90, of Waterbury, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 16, 2022 at his daughter’s home. He was the loving husband of Eleanor (Mastronunzio) Mannello, for over 64 years.
Luke was born in Waterbury on May 10, 1932, a son of the late Irma (Bilancioni) and Mario A. Mannello.Luke proudly served his country in the United States Army, stationed stateside at Fort Bragg during the Korean War. He worked in the manufacturing industry, mainly at Waterbury Farrel Division of Textron Inc. and Better Formed Metals.
Luke developed his love for sports in high school, playing third base in baseball. He became an avid golfer and was a member of the East Mountain Golf Course in Waterbury for many many years. Luke was a UCONN alum, earning a Bachelors Degree in Economics, and was a member of Phi Sigma Cappa. Luke loved spending time with his family, gardening, and the art of making wine, a family tradition for the past five generations.
Left to cherish his memory is his beloved wife Eleanor; his four children: Luke S. Mannello and wife Debra, Teresa Mannello and husband Eric Folta, Elizabeth Engelhard and husband David, and Stephen Mannello and wife Kathleen; his two sisters: Elizabeth Hyland, and Rosann Mancini and husband Larry. He also leaves behind his eight cherished grandchildren: Eric Folta, Sara Beth and Isabella Engelhard, and Dante, Isabelle, Marissa, Michala, and Michael Mannello; as well as his best friend John Hunter and his wife Tish. In addition to his parents, Luke is predeceased by his brother Mario J. Mannello and his sister-in-law Theresa, and his brother-in-law Robert Hyland.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, September 20, 2022 at 11 am at St. Anthony Church, 4 Union City Rd., Prospect. All those planning to attend are asked to meet directly at church. Procession will follow to Mt. Olivet Cemetery, 669 Platt Rd., Watertown, burial with Military Honors.
