George E. Decker

George E. Decker, 86, of Naugatuck, passed away peacefully at his home on August 4, 2022.  He was the loving husband of Claire Kielb Decker.  He was born November 16, 1935 in Poughkeepsie, New York.  He was raised on a farm in Hyde Park, NY where he acquired a knowledge of farming.

He later moved to Glastonbury where he lived until the age of 25.  He met his future wife Claire at a barn dance.  They eventually married and moved to Naugatuck where they acquired Claire’s family home.  The home needed massive renovations which George handled successfully.  The family resides there today.

At the homestead, George enjoyed gardening and found an interest in beekeeping.  He was gainfully employed as a plumber for many years with Local 777.  He enjoyed working alongside Lee Farri.  George was an avid hunter and took many hunting trips with his best friend James Flora.  He successfully accomplished his goals in life.

Besides his loving wife Claire, George leaves his son Ron Decker and daughter Karen Stewart.

Visitation will be held on Friday, August 12, 2022 from 11 am to 12 pm at Prospect Memorial/ The Palmerie Family Funeral Home, 72 Waterbury Rd., Prospect.
