Clement Vilardo, Jr. Obituary

It is with overwhelming sadness that we announce the passing of Clement Paul Vilardo Jr, 44, of Prospect. He passed away unexpectedly and far too early on March 24, 2024. Born in New Haven on January 20, 1980, he is the son of Clement Sr. and Patricia (Clark) Vilardo of Prospect. In addition to his beloved mother and father, Clem is survived by his younger brother Andrew Vilardo, also of Prospect; nephews Evan, Jake, and Mason Vilardo; maternal grandmother Patricia Robinson of Florida; paternal grandmother Gloria Vilardo of Wolcott; as well as several adoring aunts, uncles, and cousins. Clem is preceded in death by his paternal grandfather Angelo Vilardo of Waterbury.

At heart Clem was a deeply spiritual, fun-loving, gentle giant who loved his family and friends. He always found comfort in carrying several pictures of relatives, friends, and the family dog in his wallet. Despite his recent struggles he was blessed with a loving family and close-knit group of friends that never wavered in their support of him. Clem found solace and joy in his passions. In his earlier years Clem excelled in sports, particularly baseball and football but in his teens he began playing the guitar. This newfound passion fostered his love for music and he could often be found at concerts all over the northeast or jamming with his friends for hours on end. At a very early age Clem was captivated by the heroic figures that graced the pages of comic books but his favorite was undoubtedly Batman. Batman was a complex, mortal individual with flaws and unwavering ideals who never quit fighting for what he thought was right. Clem saw some of those same attributes in himself. It was those characteristics and his genuinely kind soul that made him universally loved by those that knew him best. Clem had an avid love of films. His collection spanned all genres and he enjoyed sharing his knowledge with others. Most recently he shared his love of superhero movies with his beloved nephews Evan(8), Jake(6), and Mason(6). They would always ask to see his vast collection of detailed statues and memorabilia. As a roofer and avid fisherman Clem spent a significant amount of time outdoors and in his early thirties contracted Lyme disease. The illness went undiagnosed for years and it caused several debilitating physical issues. Despite these symptoms he always managed to chase his nephews around and be a part of their lives.

There will be a service on Sunday, April 14th at The Prospect Memorial Funeral Home where people can pay their respects from 1-2pm and remembrance service from 2-3pm. Donations can be made to the Prospect Congregational Church, P.O. Box 7073, Prospect, CT 06712.
