Beverly Allen Obituary

Beverly S. Allen, 74, formerly of Prospect, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 26, 2021 at The Linden of Woodbridge. She was predeceased by her husband, Paul Allen.

Beverly was born in Waterbury on December 7, 1946 and was the daughter of the late Robert Sabo and Janet Fiengo. She was a lifelong resident of Prospect and a graduate of Wilby High School. In her youth, Beverly was a fife player in the Prospect Drum Corps., an accomplished softball pitcher, and a member of the Prospect Congregational Church Junior Choir.

Beverly was widowed at the age of 33. She was busy for many years raising four children and taking care of her home. She loved unconditionally and set an example of kindness and caring in all she did. Bev could oftentimes be found working around the house or yard with a bandana on her head or a paintbrush in her hand. She loved company and was quick to make a fresh pot of coffee and have a visit at the kitchen table.

Once her children were grown, Beverly attended stenography school, which rekindled an interest in the medical field. She was employed by the Yale School of Medicine and retired after 27 years of service.

Beverly was an active member of the Prospect Congregational Church and its Senior Choir for much of her adult life. She enjoyed music, reading, crafting, and working in the yard, especially if she was driving a large piece of equipment or a snowplow. She loved visits to Maine and any time spent with family.

Left to honor their mother’s memory are Beverly’s children: Cynthia (Kevin) Delaney of Branford; Matthew Allen of Enfield; Thomas Allen of Prospect; and Melissa Allen (James Brandt) of Woodbridge. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Colin Giannini; Amanda, Matthew and Joseph Allen; and Carley and William Allen. Beverly was predeceased by her cherished sister, Alison Broadway, and leaves her siblings Robert Sabo, Mark Sabo and Kristen Savell. Beverly came from a huge family and leaves behind many loved ones, including an abundance of adored Chatfield and Sabo cousins.
