Anthony Iacobelli Obituary

Anthony “Tony” C. Iacobelli, 98, of Waterbury passed away peacefully while surrounded by the love of his family at St. Mary’s Hospital on Saturday, April 13, 2024.  He was the widower of Angelina (Evangelista) Iacobelli whom he missed dearly since her passing in 2017.

Tony was born in Waterbury on November 28, 1925, a loving son of the late Domenico and Concetta (Ciarelli) Iacobelli.  While enrolled in college, Tony enlisted in the United States Army, pledging his life to defend his country in World War II.  He served overseas as a Military Policeman, guarding trains between cities in Germany to prevent theft and sabotage.  At the time of his honorable discharge as a Corporal, he was presented with the European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, Army of Occupation Medal, Good Conduct Medal World War II and the Victory Medal.

After his service to our country, Tony married the love of his life, Angelina, in April of 1952.  Together they raised their three children, Anthony, Mary Jane and Linda. Tony worked as a quality control supervisor at Timex for 37 years.  Family was the center of Tony’s life.  He was the life of every party, toasting to good health, prosperity and good times.  Each grandchild and great grandchild brought him yet another blessing and joy.

In his younger days, Tony enjoyed gardening, going to the gym, swimming and walking.  Later in life, he enjoyed listening to a vast variety of music, spending time on Facebook and fixing things around the house.  He enjoyed his chocolates and snacks, family meals and more than anything, lively conversation with those he loved.  Wherever Tony went, he greeted people with his smile and friendly wave.  His love and memory will be honored and cherished by all who were blessed to know him.  Throughout his nearly century of life, Tony witnessed many changes, inventions and sometimes adversities but his joy and humor was a treasure and bolster to all who knew him.

Tony leaves behind his son Anthony J. Iacobelli and his wife Joan, daughter Mary Jane Smith, and daughter Linda Carlone and her husband Joseph, with whom Tony lived these past years.  He also leaves his adoring grandchildren: Lindsay (Ryan Mulcahy) Carlone, Amanda (Jeremy) Dionne, Katrina (Mark) Stephens, Nicholas Iacobelli, Andrea Smith, Jason Smith, six beautiful great grandchildren as well as many dear friends.  Tony was preceded in death by his wife Angelina and his son-in-law Robert Smith.
