Allan Chesterson Obituary

Allan Lowell Chesterson, 81, of Southbury, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones at his home on Wednesday, June 22 2022. He was the loving partner of Lorraine Chernoff for 30 incredibly special years.

Allan was born on July 21, 1940 to Ruth (Gellis) and Murray Chesterson.  He grew up in Parkchester, Bronx NY.  He attended James Monroe High School and continued his studies at City College of NY.  Allan spent 6 years in the service of The Army National Guard of New York and was honorably discharged in January of 1969.  Allan began his professional career as a Market Research analyst with Deutsch & Shea in New York, New York.  His skillset took him many places, finally landing him at Boehringer – Ingelheim in Danbury from which he retired in 2010.

In his younger years Allan enjoyed flying small aircraft and tinkering with cars.  Allan loved photography and his cameras were his prized possessions.  Classical music was his passion; his hi-fi set up and music collection were always a source of great pride.  Technology fascinated Allan, it was a sure thing that the newest computer or gadget would turn up sooner than later.  Always the collector, Allan carefully curated collections of stamps and coins over decades of time.  Allan loved a good football or baseball game, always staying true to his New York teams.  In his retirement Allan dedicated himself to birdwatching, always sharing his joy with every sighting. He was always known as the guy who tipped with $2 bills.

Left to cherish his kind heart, sense of humor, and memory are his life partner Lorraine Chernoff, his daughter M. Beth Chesterson, his son Joshua Chesterson and his beloved Kitty.  Allan is also survived by his brother Stephen Chesterson and his wife Nhan, his niece and nephews Davina, Jedd, Corin, and their spouses and children, his former wife Ilja Wiedijk, and Lorraine's children Debbie, Mark, Lisa, and their spouses and children.

Donations in Allan's memory can be made to Regional Hospice (www.regionalhospicect.org) or The American Bird Conservancy (www.abcbirds.org)
