John “Jack” Joseph Durbin Jr., 76, of Prospect died peacefully after a long illness with his loving family by his side on Tuesday, April 9, 2024 at Waterbury Hospital. Jack was the loving husband of Linda (Stakum) Durbin. Born in Waterbury, Jack was the son of the late John J. Durbin Sr. and Ann (Solberg) Durbin.
Jack was a toolmaker by trade and worked at Risdon and then Eyelet Crafters for many years before his retirement. He enjoyed salmon fishing in the Great Lakes, going to the theater with Linda and cheering on the UCONN Women’s Basketball team. He was a loving supporter of Linda and her pickle ball endeavors. He also was an amateur ham radio operator.
Left to cherish his memory and mourn his passing beside his wife Linda are Linda’s daughter Amanda and her husband Kurt Lange of Southington, brother Brian Durbin and his wife Linda of Fla, niece Katherine and husband William Sheridan, as well as his sister-in-law Janice Jackson of Pa. Jack is predeceased by his parents.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, April 19, 2024 from 9am to 11am at Prospect Memorial/ The Palmerie Family Funeral Home, 122 Waterbury Rd., Prospect. A mass of Christian burial will follow at St. Anthony’s Church, 4 Union City Rd., Prospect. Interment will immediately follow at St. James Cemetery Naugatuck.
